Shop in your closet

I recently have come to realization that sooner or later my poles in my closet are going to collapse. I've taken items out of my drawers constantly, I taken things out of my closet and I still keep adding on and on. I've decided to try and limit myself to only a new item every two weeks instead of once a week. And it has to be a needed basic or something that I can't live without! Or the question I ask my friends when we shop"Will you dream about it?" So I'm trying to use more items already in my closet to put together new outfits. Its really fun coming up with interesting and creative things to wear out of my own closet! I'm up to date on a lot of trends. Accessories are a must for surviving this experiment. A few signature pieces that you love will definitely enhance your outfit. The picture below was taken a few weeks ago. I wanted to remember the outfit because I absolutely loved it and came up with it right before work. I will try to post more picks of myself but I need a tripod or I have to get ready before my boyfriend leaves for work! My office is very business casual. So I can get away with a lot. But I like dressing up more on the business side and adding a little bit of creativity so it isn't so boring and stuffy! Let me know what you think!

Once upon a time when I was getting prepared to make a move into a new apartment or condo. I purchased a book called Apartment Therapy. It was such inspiration for me. It list www.apartmenttherapy.com favorite submissions for the best apartment, condo, loft, etc home decor. These are regular people who decorated there own homes. Given that some of them are artsy fartsy, creative people but they weren't trained in the art of interior design. I discovered the book first and then the website. Thankfully they have a blog, which I subscribe too! I just ran across a recent posting of one of my all time favorite wall papers. Yes wallpapers! I would love to put these in my house. But would my boyfriend be okay with the bright fuchsia background on the first one or the beautiful flower print on the other. Only putting them up without him knowing would be the true test!

What do you think? Like? Or I'm I crazy???

Accessory Report: Chain Bracelets

If you haven't noticed this year. There is a lot of rocker, edgy, leather, gothicish type designs hitting the stores. Just walk through Forever 21, they have tons of the above. This year this style became a little more marketable because the designs are versatile enough to pair them with softer pieces. I believe the leather or leatherish leggings started this whole look. Of course the orginal inspiration came from the 60s, 70s and 80s hard core rock styles. Those that dress this way regularly are the real pioneers. But for some reason fashionitas are liking this edgy look. So am I! Black, white, silver and gold are one of my all time favorite go to pairings. Its chic and classic at the same time. Above I've put together my favorite chain bracelets that are twined with metal or fabric. These bracelets are on my "I want list!" They definietely give your outfit that extra edge.

American Apparel Rummage Sale

Thanks to my good friend Karen L. She told me about the American Apparel rummage sale. She is currently a student at FIDM San Diego. She found out by flyers and posters plastered all over her school.

We did not expect that many people to show up. The sale started at 9:30 a.m. We thought the line might be simlar to H&M store opening or a line in front of the store. We showed up at 9:45 and the line was around the corner down the block!. We waited for three hours in line for this sale. We had some much needed girl talk that we did, so it was worth it. I found so many great items! Here is one of my all time favorites that I purchased.
OversizedScoop Back Fringe MiniOversizedScoop Back Fringe Mini
$48.00
I paid $10.00!!!

This sale was amazing. I will definitely be attending next year extra early. I never realized how American Apparel basics can be styled up so well. I'm definitely a new fan. Plus their products are made in the USA, which is a rarity these days. They actually don't have a sweatshop working enviroment and pay decent wages to their employees. Yeah to American Apparel for that!

Up up and Beret!

I'm not a big hat person although I do own hats. I honestly wear hats probably like 5 to 10 times a year which isn't alot. But I keep them around as apart of my growing accessory bin. I recently went to forever 21 and purchase to cute knit berets. One in charcoal gray(to the left) and the exact same style in mustard. I've already worn both. They are absolutely adorable. I'm loving these sequined berets to left as well. Those can definietely be worn out to drinks or a date. They add a touch of glamour to a day or evening look. They are all under $10.

Green Nail Polish? Yes!

Green is my new favorite color! Green the color of money, grass,
trees, Christmas trees, freeway signs! I recently purchased an emerald
green nail polish. I love it! It's a little different and I was
skeptical at polishing my nails this color but I'm into it now. People
will look twice at your nails because they aren't expecting to see.
I'm thinking about a greenish torquiose sparkly color by Finger Paints
which is one of my favorite brands along with China Glaze and OPI. The
color above is apart of the Espana collection by OPI. I definitely
like these dark colors for the fall and winter. I try these colors and
don't like them there is always nail polish remover, a receipt to
return the nail polish or pass it along to a friend.

Halloween Costumes

Halloween Costumes
By Shaunese Crockett

I was so excited for Halloween this year. Normally I don’t get that into Halloween. But its purely dress up time for me. I was able to wear fake eyelashes, a phony ponytail and a fierce Star Trek uniform. I kept thinking about who I was going to be for Halloween. Then Uhura from Star Trek just popped into my mind. Well more like”Babe who is the black girl in Star Trek movie, what is the characters name?” I wasn’t a big Star Trek fan before but I loved the movie. Here is how my costume turned out. I love it!

And I Creep!

And I Creep

by Shaunese Crockett

I've recently been creeping around Burlington Coat Factory. It all started when I came back from Vegas. And stopped off in Ontario Mills Mall. I had driven about four hours and needed to stretch my legs. Plus we needed bathroom breaks. I purchased a cute vest for my little sister. A cute bomber jacket and Carlos Santana heels. I got home tried to wear the shoes out and they didn't fit snug enough. There was no strap on the heel so I guess my ankes weren't big enough to keep the shoe on sadly. Because I loved this shoe. I have a local BCF in my neighborhood. I decided one long day after work to stop in and browse around. To my surprise Burlington's buyers have definitely stepped their game up tremnedously. My passion is handbags! I love them because I carry my life around in purses. Although I tried the new trend with the small crossbody bags. Which are awesome for summer because they are light and heavy. But now I want that big comfy bag around me. They had Jessica Simpson, BCBG, Maxx New York, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Dereon, Liz Clairborne and more brands I can't remember. Then I stumbled over the clothing section. There was Juicy Courture, Romeo & Juiliet, DKNY, Michael Kors, Anne Klein, Calvin Klein, Free People, Rock and Republic, etc. The list goes on and on! Its one section that is seriously like a mini fashion boutique. The Juicy Couture dress was orginally for $350 it was marked down to $99.99. You can't beat that at all. Here are some of the items I snagged. But mustered up the will power to leave them behind. I have all these items in already but in different colors. Its my style so I tend repeat and buy the things that work for me. Check them out below. Should I have gotten them???

Textured Graphic Leggings in Black and Silver

Sasha Grey Faux Shopper Handbag with Chain

Why do girls in California wear boots in warm weather?

My best friend, Shalaurey Jones, who currently lives in Chicago was in
California visiting family. I had driven out to Orange County to see
visit her at the time. I can't remember where we were exactly but she
made a comment saying "...these Cali girls kill me wearing boots and
it not hot outside." u laughed at her comment because I though the
same thing when I first moved to Cali. Well unfortunately for us that
reside in California we never really have Ice cold temperatures that
would permit us to wear boots. We simply love the style. I personally
love dressing up in winter clothes. I love layering. When I go back
home to Chicago it's my chance to wear shirts with vest and sweaters
with a jacket and a coat with tights and boots then a scarf and gloves
and fabulous huge bag. Then of course I'm still freezing my ass off!
But the look is so city! It's fun and allows you to pair things up for
warmth and style. "Us" Californians simply can not let the newly
crowned "it" boots pass us by for that one month the weather might hit
under 60 degrees. Plus most of the boots that I love would b destroyed
if the were subjected to ice cold temperature, snow and constant wear
and tear. When I invest in boots I want them to last forever!!! Here
is a couple of my favorite boots I saw on amiclubwear.com. It's my new
favorite site for inexpensive shoes. I recently purchased the black
boots int he middle. I haven't worn them yet but I will post pictures
when I do!

It's sequin time!

I'm in Vegas again! Vegas makes me think of bright lights, glitz and glamour! While I had some down time I got a little inspired to put together this collage. I knew where to find all of these clothes! I went directly to forever21.com. I love this store. You can find anything and everything to complete your wardrobe. Browsing through this website makes my shopping tendencies come back into full effect! As I was putting these gorgeous pieces together I felt like something
was missing! I started to think about what girl(besides myself) would wear this outfit? Ding ding! Kerry Washington! I love everything she wears. Kudos to her stylist!

Sunglasses! Never leave home without dem!

Recently i went to the Hilcrest City Festival thinger majiger. Me and
my good friends wondered the streets enjoying great street food. Then
after we inhaled are food we stumbled across "Designer Style
Sunglasses" in Hilcrest. This store is filled with inexpensive
sunglasses that are highly influenced by the latest designer styles!
I'm sure you guys have seen similar stores in the mall. They normally
just have a cart in the center of the mall. But anywayzz this store
had a unique selection. I could have purchased like 20 sunglasses.
However I only purchased three and here is a picture of one of the
styles I grabbed!

Dirty Money

P Diddy's new group "Dirty Money" are killing it in their white
ensembles. I'm a sucka for motorcycle jackets. They are so classic. have one in black and cream. It could be dressed up or down. The white definitely a "I should have had
this yesterday." First Dawn's(on the left) shirt is smashing! I'm not
that bold to wear it but it's sick. Her shoes are amazing! Gladiator,
strappy heels are trendy right now but it's a trend that's here to
stay! The cream and white contrast is very tricky but they've pulled
it off so well.

Ooo la la! So perfect and cheap!

I walked into Nordstrom on a crazy shopping extravaganza that lasted
three hours in heels! Yes say it with me Ouch! Then I deliriously
wandered into Nordstrom. OMG! They are having their anniversary sale.
Saw this cute saddle cross over bag. Only $59 orginally $80 ish
something. Okay good deal!!! But I walked away! Then it came to me
last week I saw a saddle baggish cross over thingy at my Local TargeƩ!
Only $22 bucks darlings. I wish it had a built in wallet on the inside
flap! To leave me more room inside. But besides that... it's a deal. I'm
into small bags right now. It's so hot! That a big bag creates more
heat! I don't know. Small bags for summer seem light and just plain
summery!

Saddle bags! Not the ones under your eyes

One things I have been seeing lately that I was unsure about purchaseing is a saddle bag. I love my big purses but they can be a bit unorganized in the inside. Its hard to find my phone, keys, lipstick, etc. So I'm thinking of a getting a smaller bag that will keep me a little organzied for those days when I don't want to look NY chic with my hobo bag. I don't want black because I have so many black bags. I thought the camel tan would be a cool color. Or what about the other one which is oxblood.Help me outza! ;-)

Who loves short shorts?

It's has been extremely hot in San Diego for like two weeks straight. I've been all about wearing summer dresses on the weekend. Since our recent heat wave. I didn't notice that I don't have any shorts that I can fit anymore. I have been working out but I have more muscle in my gluteous Maximus and thighs. I started browsing around in my favorite store and came across these wonderful shorts above. I love color! It's beautiful. The zippers on the side are a great additional detail! What do to think?

I found them!!! Michael Kors Berkley T Strap

When I went to Las Vegas with some friends. I was so tired from the night before. Well my feet were tired too! Actually they were mad at me and went on strike. My friend placed these gorgeous shoes on the dresser. I wanted to wear them because they were so cute. Plus i wanted to give my feet a rest. But she wouldn't let me borrow them. Honestly I don't think I would let anyone borrow these babies either. They are $129. They are so worth it. I wish they were at DSW so I could use my coupon.
